Staff Update
We have had to say goodbye in recent months to a couple of old ADS hands. Keith Westcott and Jo Gilham (nèe Clarke) have both been with us since 1999 and have contributed enormously to our success, taking the lead in many of our most challenging technical projects. Keith has joined ExeGesIS and Jo has moved on to a post with Sheffield University. All at the ADS wish them the best of luck in their new posts.
Of course, saying goodbye to departing members of staff provides the opportunity to say hello to new ones.
Our new curatorial officers are Jonathan Bateman, who joins us from the CBA where he has been the information officer for a number of years, and Michael Charno who has recently completed York University's Masters course in Archaeological Information Systems. Both Jon and Michael have a range of technical skills and a strong archaeological background and we are sure that they will make a great contribution to the service.

As part of English Heritage's management of the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund (ALSF) the ADS has a new one year post designed to manage the integration of all reporting from ALSF archaeology projects into the ADS archive and website. This post has been taken up by Tim Evans, who joins us after 5 years with Birmingham Archaeology. Tim's experience in the world of commercial archaeology offers a sound understanding of this sphere. In Tim's own words "the ALSF generates lots of significant archaeological data, I'm looking forward to the challenge of bringing it all together and preparing it for dissemination via the ADS".
The ADS are also pleased to announce that, along with Internet Archaeology, we are hosting an IFA workplace bursary placement. This has been awarded to Emma O'Riordan, currently working with Headland Archaeology in Edinburgh, who takes up her post in October. We are looking forward to welcoming her.
Finally, Kieron Niven, who has been a curatorial officer with us for three years, but also on part time secondment with the Digital Preservation Centre, has converted to a full time post with the ADS.
