The ADS and Warwickshire County Council are pleased to announce the online launch of an index to the Warwickshire Sites and Monuments Record. Data from Warwickshire Sites and Monuments Record was loaded into our catalogue in June this year, and adds to the growing list of local and national records made available in this way. It also now brings the total number of records available in ArchSearch to well over 450,000.
All of Warwickshire's best known monuments are included in the record, such as Warwick and Kenilworth Castles, sections of the Fosse Way and Watling Street Roman roads, and the English Civil War battlefield at Edgehill. Furthermore, the record includes information about some of the best ridge and furrow earthworks in the country. It includes details about the oldest man-made object found in England, the Waverley Wood handaxe.
