Archaeology Data Service

Guides Released

The ADS is pleased to announce two additions to the Guides to Good Practice Series: paper publication of CAD: A Guide to Good Practice; and the network launch of a cross disciplinary guide Creating and using Virtual Reality: a guide for the Arts and Humanities.

Edited by Kate Fernie and Julian Richards of the ADS, the virtual reality guide represents an exceptional joint effort by all the services in the AHDS. Initiated as a guide by the Visual Arts Data Service, the content of the guide is relevant across many different subject areas, including archaeology, drama, art, dance, architecture and tourism. Sections on popular VR techniques like collaborative virtual environments, 3D models, bubble worlds and associated hardware and software lead to a detailed discussion about levels of documentation, archiving and user support.

The virtual reality guide is online at: http://vads.ahds.ac.uk/guides/vr_guide
